Operative temperature

In a black enclosure, the uniform temperature at which a human occupant would exchange the same amount of heat by radiation and convection as in the actual non-uniform environment (British Standards Institution 2002; IUPS Thermal Commission 2001). The optimum temperature corresponds to a predicted mean vote (PMV) of 0, and is dependent on clothing and activity.
