Mitigation

With respect to mitigation of disaster risk and disaster, mitigation is defined by the IPCC (2012) as “The lessening of the potential adverse impacts of physical hazards (including those that are human-induced) through actions that reduce hazard, exposure, and vulnerability.” With respect to climate change, the IPCC (2012) define mitigation as “A human intervention to reduce the sources or enhance the sinks of greenhouse gases.”
